The top five, starting from the highest, are Karawang, Gresik, Jepara, West Bandung, and Pekanbaru City, with weekly testing figures of 930, 880, 858, 849, and 847 people per week, respectively.
Karawang ranks first, with 930 tests per week. The latest positive rate is 4.73 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Gresik. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, 880 tests were conducted per week. The positive rate is 4.32 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in Jepara totaled 858 people per week, 849 in West Bandung, and 847 in Pekanbaru City.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid data recapitulation, 131 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 227 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of weekly tests include Pekanbaru City, Samarinda City, and Bandar Lampung City, with 847, 766, and 685 tests per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
