According to Halodoc's data, during Ramadan 2025, there was an increase in consultations for anxiety disorders experienced by Indonesians.
Consultations in the first week of Ramadan rose by 17%, peaking in the third week at 27% compared to the average weekly rate before Ramadan.
"If we look deeper, the triggers for anxiety throughout the month of Ramadan stem from increasing social and emotional pressures leading up to Eid," explained Halodoc in its Indonesia Health Insights Q1 2026 report.
According to Halodoc, conflicts and relationship pressures within families or couples were the most dominant triggers, accounting for 58% of all anxiety disorder consultations.
"Many patients feel burdened by the tense dynamics of family or personal relationships leading up to Eid," said Halodoc.
Here are the triggers for anxiety during Ramadan 2025, according to Halodoc's data:
- Conflicts and relationship pressures within families: 58%
- Emotional wounds and past memories: 16%
- Changes in lifestyle: 11%
- Economic pressures and uncertainty about the future: 10%
- Loneliness among those living away from home: 5%
Halodoc explained that emotional wounds and past memories became triggers because the atmosphere of Ramadan often brings up old memories or traumas, such as the loss of family members or loved ones.
The trigger of changes in lifestyle relates to shifts in sleep and eating schedules, coupled with excessive caffeine consumption, which can quickly tire the body and disrupt the rhythm of stress hormones.
As for economic pressures and uncertainty about the future, they intertwine with concerns about income, living costs, and family needs leading up to Eid.
Meanwhile, loneliness became a trigger because of situations that prevent people from returning to their hometowns, leaving some patients feeling empty and losing the meaning of Eid.
This report was compiled using Halodoc's internal data as the main source. The analysis focused on patients aged 12 and above from all regions of Indonesia.
The analyzed data included millions of health service interactions that occurred on the Halodoc platform, including doctor consultations, purchases of health products, and homecare services.
