According to reports by IDN Research Institute and Populix, Generation Z and Millennials are often referred to as the "anxious generation" due to the numerous significant challenges they face in the modern era.
The survey indicates that 55% of respondents identified economic instability as the primary source of their anxiety.
"This figure highlights the importance of a more holistic approach to mental health to address the pressures stemming from broader global and social issues," wrote the IDN Research Institute in its *Indonesia Millennial & Gen Z Report 2025*.
Similarly, sources of anxiety among young Indonesians include current economic uncertainty (44%); social injustice (31%); and climate change (28%).
Furthermore, 28% of Gen Z and Millennials expressed anxiety about work pressure, and 22% cited difficulties in finding employment post-COVID-19 pandemic.
This survey involved 1,500 respondents, comprising 750 Millennials and 750 Gen Z individuals spread across 12 major cities in Indonesia.
IDN Research Institute defines Millennials as the population group aged 28-43 years and Gen Z as those aged 12-27 years in 2024.
Data collection was conducted from March to August 2024 through in-depth interviews. It should be noted that the survey questions used a multiple-answer format, allowing respondents to select more than one answer.
