Based on national Covid-19 data, 157 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Friday, October 7, 2022, shows a national average of 0.42 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are South Jakarta (4.5 people), Central Jakarta (4.42 people), Balikpapan (3.75 people), Badung (3.31 people), and East Jakarta (2.97 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 4.5 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positivity rate is 5.18 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. To combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 4.42 people per 1,000 were tested per week. The positivity rate is 7.26 percent, also down from the previous week.
Balikpapan recorded 3.75 tests per 1,000 people per week, Badung 3.31, and East Jakarta 2.97.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact, national Covid-19 data shows 130 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Another 177 regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (3.75 people), Badung (3.31 people), and Mimika (2.45 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also helps curb the spread of the coronavirus.
