The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 2.56 million cases by Monday, July 25, 2022. According to GISAID data, the United States recorded the highest number of Omicron cases, with 1.4 million cases. This represents 54.78 percent of the total global Omicron cases.
Germany follows with a weekly growth in Omicron cases of 8.62 percent. Daily figures show a 0.03 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, reaching 363,730.
Furthermore, the number of Omicron cases in Denmark increased by 1.36 percent to 261,890 compared to the previous week. Japan reported 124,810 Omicron cases (a 1.07 percent increase), and Australia saw a 2.67 percent rise in Omicron cases, reaching 78,110 compared to the previous week.
In Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 16,425, a 0.48 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since its initial detection, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has steadily risen.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges everyone to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is advised to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
