Based on national Covid-19 data, 153 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen testing above the national average. Data as of Saturday, July 30, 2022, shows a national average of 168.29 specimens tested per week.
The top five cities with the highest number of specimens tested per week are Tanjung Pinang (994 specimens), Bandung Barat (991 specimens), Sorong (987 specimens), Kediri (968 specimens), and Sukabumi (961 specimens).
Tanjung Pinang ranks first. With a population of 220,650, 994 specimens were tested per week. The latest positive rate is 5.99 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Bandung Barat. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 991 specimens were tested per week. The positive rate was 5.27 percent, also an increase from the previous week.
Sorong recorded 987 specimens tested per week, Kediri 968 specimens per week, and Sukabumi (population 331,750) 961 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact, national Covid-19 data shows that 122 regencies/cities actively reported a higher number of daily specimens tested compared to previous periods. Meanwhile, 201 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens tested compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of specimens tested include Tanjung Pinang (994 specimens), Sorong (987 specimens), and Bengkulu Utara (957 specimens).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
