Anticipating the rising impact of the Omicron variant, 143 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Wednesday, November 2, 2022, shows a national average of 145.82 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Sukoharjo, Padang City, Gianyar, Jepara, and Pasuruan, with 984, 941, 907, 890, and 866 specimens per week, respectively.
Sukoharjo ranks first. With a population of 903,750, the number of specimens examined there was 984 per week. The latest positive rate is 9.71 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Padang City. With a population of 997,360, 941 specimens were examined per week in an effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The positive rate was 7.84 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Gianyar recorded 907 specimens per week, Jepara 890, and Pasuruan 866.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on national COVID-19 data recapitulation, 157 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 134 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, some areas with the highest number of specimens examined include Padang City, Gianyar, and Kendari City, with 941, 907, and 860 specimens, respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing COVID-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
