A Kompas Research and Development survey shows that the majority of the public assess the Indonesian National Police (Polri) as having performed its duties well.
Specifically, 67.1% of respondents stated that the Polri at the police station (Polsek), police resort (Polres), and regional police (Polda) levels have performed their duties in maintaining public security and order well, and another 17.6% said very well.
However, 11.8% of respondents said that the Polri's performance in maintaining public security and order was still poor, 0.9% rated it very poor, and 2.6% did not know.
Regarding law enforcement, 11.3% said the Polri's performance was very good, and 58.2% said it was good. However, 21.5% of respondents said the Polri's performance in this area was still poor, with 1.8% stating it was very poor, and 7.2% not knowing.
Regarding the aspect of providing protection and community support, the majority of respondents also assessed the Polri's performance as good. The details are: 13.6% of respondents said very good and 65.1% good, while 16.8% said poor, 2.3% very poor, and 2.2% did not know.
In terms of providing services to the public, 71.5% said the Polri had performed its duties well, and another 12.3% stated very well. However, some respondents assessed that the Polri's performance in providing public services was still poor: 12.1% poor, 0.5% very poor. Furthermore, 3.6% said they did not know.
The survey was conducted from June 25-28, 2022, via telephone interviews with 504 respondents across 34 provinces, using a randomly determined sample. The survey method has a 95% confidence level with a margin of error of approximately 4.37%.
