Based on national Covid-19 data, 153 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from Wednesday, October 26, 2022, shows a national average of 0.43 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are Balikpapan City, South Jakarta City, Central Jakarta City, West Jakarta City, and East Jakarta City, with 4.51, 4.5, 4.43, 3.16, and 3.1 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the number of people tested is 4.51 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 9.44 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is South Jakarta City. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested is 4.5 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this area is 11.08 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Following is Central Jakarta City, with a population of 913,720, recording 4.43 Covid-19 tests per 1,000 people per week; West Jakarta City with 3.16 tests per 1,000 people per week; and East Jakarta City with 3.1 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact, national Covid-19 data shows 137 regencies/cities actively reporting a higher number of daily tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 172 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan City, Badung, and Mimika, with 4.51, 2.5, and 2.36 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
