Anticipating the impact of the rising Omicron variant, 164 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Thursday, July 21, 2022, shows a national average of 1.51 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, Badung, and South Tangerang, with 14.01, 12.82, 9.14, 9.09, and 8.84 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 14.01 tests per 1,000 people per week. Its latest positivity rate is 11.15 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. To combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 12.82 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positivity rate is 10.38 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in West Jakarta recorded 9.14 tests per 1,000 people per week, Badung 9.09, and South Tangerang 8.84.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron across various regions, based on national Covid data, 353 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Conversely, 31 regencies/cities recorded fewer tests compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Badung (9.09 tests per 1,000 people per week), Mimika (8.51), and Balikpapan (8.08).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
