Anticipating the rising impact of the Omicron variant, 139 regencies/cities aggressively conducted COVID-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data from Tuesday, September 27, 2022, shows a national average of 140.43 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are Batam, Malang, Jepara, West Bandung, and Kudus, with 972, 956, 947, 937, and 904 tests per week respectively.
Batam ranks first, with 972 tests per week. The latest positive rate is 2.16 percent, down from the previous week.
Malang is next, with 956 tests per week in its efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The positive rate is 6.8 percent, also down from the previous week.
Jepara recorded 947 tests per week, while West Bandung recorded 937. Kudus, with a population of 893,350, recorded 904 tests per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron across various regions, based on national COVID-19 data, 187 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of tests per week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 173 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests per week include Batam (972 tests), Pekanbaru (880 tests), and Bandar Lampung (822 tests).
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
