Based on national Covid-19 data, 111 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen testing above the national average. As of Thursday, February 16, 2023, the national average was 99 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Karawang, Sikka, Cirebon City, Kupang City, and Deli Serdang, with 902, 890, 862, 811, and 786 specimens per week, respectively.
Karawang ranks first, with 902 specimens tested per week. The latest positive rate is 0.8 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Sikka, with a population of 325,260. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 890 specimens were tested per week. The positive rate is 0 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Following this, Cirebon City tested 862 specimens per week; Kupang City, with a population of 481,270, tested 811 specimens per week; and another regency/city tested 786 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 68 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens tested than before. Meanwhile, 129 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens tested compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest number of specimens tested include Sikka, Kupang City, and Deli Serdang, with 890, 811, and 786 specimens tested, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
