The highest increase in confirmed positive Covid-19 cases in North Sumatra is currently in Medan City, with eight cases per 100,000 population per week as of Monday, September 12, 2022. This figure is one case higher than the second-highest area.
However, despite being the highest, the number of Covid-19 transmissions in Medan City has decreased compared to the previous week, which was at 10.04 cases per 100,000 population per week.
Next in second place is Pakpak Bharat. This region recorded a weekly confirmation rate of seven cases per 100,000 population. Compared to the previous week, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases this week is still higher, meaning there is no improvement yet.
Also in the top five, besides the two regions above, are Pematangsiantar City, Samosir, and Sibolga City. Each recorded weekly confirmations of six cases, three cases, and three cases, respectively.
According to the Ministry of Health's list, the next five regencies/cities in the top 10 are Binjai City, Tanjung Balai City, Deli Serdang, and Tebing Tinggi City. These areas recorded an average increase of more than 1.76 cases per 100,000 population.
The good news from this province is that there are five regencies/cities that did not record any increase in confirmed Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population per week.
