The top five, starting from the highest, are Palangkaraya City, Kediri City, Jombang Regency, Serang City, and Kebumen Regency, with 992, 986, 956, 946, and 928 specimens per week, respectively.
Palangkaraya City ranks first. With a population of 295,790, the number of specimens examined is recorded at 992 per week. The latest positive rate is 3.23 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week.
Next is Kediri City. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined was 986 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 3.93 percent, a decrease compared to the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Serang City, with a population of 718,430, recorded 956 specimens examined per week, while Kebumen Regency recorded 946 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 134 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimen examinations than before. Meanwhile, 145 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Palangkaraya City, Gianyar Regency, and Tarakan City, with 992, 911, and 849 specimens, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
