Based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 158 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Friday, September 2, 2022, shows a national average of 162.3 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Tasikmalaya City (986 specimens), Banjarbaru City (965 specimens), Tarakan City (954 specimens), Magetan Regency (946 specimens), and Sibolga City (940 specimens).
Tasikmalaya City ranks first. With a population of 685,850, the number of specimens examined is 986 per week. The latest positive rate is 8.07 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week.
Next is Banjarbaru City. The population is 280,110. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 965 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate is 4.62 percent, also down from the previous week.
Furthermore, Tarakan City recorded 954 specimens examined per week, Magetan Regency 946 specimens per week, and Sibolga City 940 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 134 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimen examinations than before. Meanwhile, 192 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Banjarbaru City, Tarakan City, and Sibolga City, with 965, 954, and 940 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
