From the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 70 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Tuesday, September 6, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 20.79 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, subsequently reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest weekly percentage of people tested, are Mimika (570.09%), Balikpapan City (406.52%), Surakarta City (347.1%), Jayapura City (343.51%), and Sukabumi City (285.41%).
Mimika ranks first. With a population of 221,810, the weekly percentage of people tested is recorded at 570.09 percent. The latest positive rate is 4.23 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Balikpapan City. The population of this region is recorded at 646,020. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of people tested is 406.52 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 5.23 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's ratio.
Then, Surakarta City, with a population of 519,800, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 347.1 percent; Jayapura City recorded 343.51 percent; and Sukabumi City recorded 285.41 percent.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, there are 152 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting higher daily weekly testing percentages than before. Meanwhile, 205 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly testing percentages compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentage ratios include Mimika, Balikpapan City, and Jayapura City, with weekly testing percentages of 570.09 percent, 406.52 percent, and 343.51 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
