President Jokowi visited Ukraine and met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
“I conveyed to President Zelenskyy that this visit is a manifestation of Indonesia's concern for the situation in Ukraine,” President Jokowi said in a press release issued by the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat (Setkab) on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
The Setkab RI's press release stated, "President Jokowi also conveyed his concern about the humanitarian impact of the war. With its existing capabilities, the Indonesian people and government are striving to contribute aid, including medicines and a commitment to reconstructing hospitals around Kyiv."
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Ukraine needs US$79.2 million (approximately Rp1.17 trillion) in health assistance for the period of March-August 2022.
This is recorded in the WHO's report, *WHO Emergency Appeal: Ukraine & Refugee Receiving and Hosting Countries*, released in May 2022.
Broken down by category, Ukraine needs assistance for emergency and critical medical care valued at US$69.2 million (approximately Rp1.02 trillion).
Then, assistance is needed for the prevention and management of infectious diseases valued at US$4.88 million (Rp72.57 billion).
Assistance is also needed for surveillance and information systems for health sector policymaking, valued at US$4.45 million (Rp66.17 billion).
Finally, Ukraine needs assistance for health sector coordination valued at US$670,000 (Rp9.96 billion).
"Actions must focus on ensuring access to essential health care and services for those injured and affected by armed conflict, COVID-19, polio, measles, and other health threats, including chemical or radionuclide hazards," the WHO explained in its report.
"The continuity of treatment and care for (Ukrainian) citizens with non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer, is also a top priority," the WHO continued.
