The top five, starting from the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Manado City (955 specimens), Kediri City (953 specimens), West Bandung Regency (939 specimens), Pasuruan Regency (931 specimens), and Ambon City (883 specimens).
Manado City ranks first. With a population of 433,880, the number of specimens examined is 955 per week. The latest positive rate is 21.52 percent, an increase compared to the previous week.
Next is Kediri City. The population is 292,930. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 953 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate is 9.36 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Specimen examinations in West Bandung Regency totaled 939 per week, Pasuruan Regency recorded 931 specimens per week, and Ambon City, with a population of 484,690, recorded 883 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 119 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 161 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Manado City, Ambon City, and Kubu Raya Regency, with 955, 883, and 871 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
