Contact tracing is one of the keys to suppressing the spread of Covid-19 cases. According to the ideal Tracing-Isolation Ratio (TIR) standard, tracing should be conducted on 30 close contacts for each positive case. In reality, based on KawalCOVID19 monitoring, until Monday (June 14, 2021), tracing in Indonesia was only conducted on 1 close contact for each positive Covid-19 case.
Even the three provinces with the highest contact tracing rates only traced 2-3 people per positive case. These three provinces are East Kalimantan (2.92), Jakarta (2.52), and West Kalimantan (2.17). Six other provinces only traced one person, such as West Nusa Tenggara, Riau, and Yogyakarta.
The TIR in several provinces was recorded as less than one person. For example, Maluku (0.09), Central Sulawesi (0.16), South Kalimantan (0.17), and South Sulawesi (0.18). In Bali, North Sumatra, and West Papua, there was no tracing at all.
Tracing close contacts is important to avoid the widespread spread of the coronavirus from confirmed positive patients. This step is included in the 3T handling, namely testing, tracing, and treatment.
Furthermore, the public must comply with the 3M health protocols when engaging in outdoor activities. Wearing a mask, maintaining distance and avoiding crowds, and washing hands with soap can suppress virus transmission.
