The Ministry of Health notes that unvaccinated individuals are at a higher risk of death from the Covid-19 coronavirus. This is illustrated by data on claims for the treatment of coronavirus-infected patients in hospitals from May to July 2021.
From May to July 2021, 9,096 unvaccinated patients died from coronavirus. This is equivalent to 15.5% of the total 58,758 unvaccinated coronavirus patients.
Meanwhile, 394 patients who had received one dose of the vaccine died from coronavirus. This is equivalent to 9.8% of the 4,021 coronavirus patients who had received only one dose of the vaccine.
214 patients who had received two doses of the vaccine died from coronavirus. This is equivalent to 4.1% of the 5,168 coronavirus patients who had been fully vaccinated.
Based on this data, the risk of death from coronavirus is reduced by 37% for those who have received one dose of the vaccine. The risk of death is reduced by 73% for those who have received two doses of the vaccine.
Therefore, the public is urged to get vaccinated to reduce the risk of death from coronavirus. In addition, the public needs to prevent the spread of coronavirus by diligently implementing the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
