Anticipating the rising impact of the Omicron variant, 136 regencies/cities aggressively conducted COVID-19 testing above the national average. Data from the week of November 27, 2022, shows a national average of 0.44 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are: South Jakarta (6.06 people), Central Jakarta (5.82 people), South Tangerang (4.28 people), East Jakarta (4.15 people), and West Jakarta (4.05 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 6.06 people tested per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 25.71 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, 5.82 people per 1,000 were tested per week. The positive rate is 27.48 percent, also down from the previous week.
South Tangerang recorded 4.28 tests per 1,000 people per week; East Jakarta, 4.15; and West Jakarta, 4.05.
In anticipation of Omicron's impact across various regions, based on national COVID-19 data, 170 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than the previous week. Conversely, 106 regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.04 people), Badung (2.76 people), and Mimika (2 people).
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
