Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 143 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from the week of December 11, 2022, shows a national average of 0.59 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, East Jakarta, and South Tangerang, with 6.55, 6.29, 5.55, 4.59, and 4.32 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 6.55 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 8.59 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 6.29 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 9.61 percent, also down from the previous week.
Balikpapan recorded 5.55 tests per 1,000 people per week, East Jakarta 4.59, and South Tangerang 4.32.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 124 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 170 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some of the regions with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (5.55 tests per 1,000 people per week), Badung (3.46), and Gunungsitoli (3.42).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
