Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 147 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Friday, July 8, 2022, shows a national average of 152.41 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Serang City, Tanah Bumbu, Sorong City, West Bandung, and Pangandaran, with weekly specimen numbers of 986, 967, 943, 930, and 918, respectively.
Serang City ranks first. With a population of 718,430, the number of specimens examined there is recorded at 986 per week. The latest positive rate is 2.09 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Tanah Bumbu. The population in this region is recorded at 407,700. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined is 967 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.72 percent, also up compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, Sorong City recorded 943 specimens per week; West Bandung recorded 930 specimens per week; and Pangandaran, with a population of 407,350, recorded 918 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 131 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 185 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Tanah Bumbu (967 specimens), Sorong City (943 specimens), and Batu Bara (857 specimens).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
