Today's COVID-19 Provincial Data Update: West Java Reports the Highest Increase (Wednesday, March 9, 2022)

Indonesia today recorded an additional 26,336 Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 5.83 million as of Wednesday, March 9, 2022. The five provinces with the highest number of new cases today are West Java, Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, and Yogyakarta.

The following are the provinces with the highest increase in Covid-19 cases today

1. West Java recorded an additional 5,578 cases

West Java ranks first. The increase in cases here was recorded at 5,578, a 0.53 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 1.05 million. With this addition, the total number of cases in West Java is now 1.06 million.

In addition to the highest number of new cases, West Java also recorded 27 deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in West Java has reached 15,314. The seven-day positive rate in West Java is 15.97 percent, while the occupancy rate (BOR) of Covid-19 hospitals is reported to be 34 percent.

2. Jakarta recorded an additional 3,872 cases

Next is Jakarta. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 3,872. The seven-day positive rate in this region is recorded at 13.45 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 202.75 per week.
3. Central Java recorded an additional 3,126 cases

Central Java ranks third. The increase in cases here was recorded at 3,126, a 0.52 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 600,190. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 603,310.

In addition to recording the highest number of new cases, Central Java also recorded 87 deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in Central Java has reached 31,748. The seven-day positive rate in Central Java is 25.96 percent, while the occupancy rate (BOR) of Covid-19 hospitals is reported to be 34 percent.

4. East Java recorded an additional 2,245 cases

The fourth highest increase in cases was in East Java. In this province, the increase in cases today was 2,245, a 0.4 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 557,710.

Unfortunately, in addition to recording a high number of new cases, East Java also recorded 37 deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in East Java has reached 30,815. The seven-day positive rate in East Java is 11.33 percent, while the occupancy rate (BOR) of Covid-19 hospitals is reported to be 25 percent.

5. Yogyakarta recorded an additional 1,474 cases

Yogyakarta ranks fifth. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 1,474. The seven-day positive rate in this region is recorded at 32.99 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 43.33 per week.
6. East Nusa Tenggara recorded an additional 1,205 cases

East Nusa Tenggara ranks sixth. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 1,205. The seven-day positive rate in this region is recorded at 25.51 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 25.19 per week.
7. Banten recorded an additional 1,127 cases

The seventh highest increase in cases was in Banten. In this province, the increase in cases today was 1,127, a 0.41 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 276,820.

Furthermore, Banten also recorded two deaths today. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in Banten has reached 2,878. The seven-day positive rate in Banten is 11.57 percent, while the occupancy rate (BOR) of Covid-19 hospitals is reported to be 21 percent.

8. East Kalimantan recorded an additional 1,029 cases

East Kalimantan ranks eighth. The increase in cases here was recorded at 1,029, a 0.52 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 199,180. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 200,210.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths today in East Kalimantan was recorded at nine. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in East Kalimantan has reached 5,593.

The trend of case development in this region over the past week has decreased. This condition can be seen from the lower confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to last week.

Similarly, the positive rate in this region is recorded as lower than before. According to the Ministry of Health, the occupancy rate (BOR) of Covid-19 hospitals in this province is recorded at 32 percent.

9. North Sumatra recorded an additional 686 cases

The ninth highest increase in cases was in North Sumatra. In this province, the increase in cases today was 686, a 0.46 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 149,700.

Today, the number of deaths in North Sumatra was also reported at seven. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in North Sumatra has reached 3,062. The seven-day positive rate is 13.71 percent, and the occupancy rate (BOR) of Covid-19 hospitals is reported to be 25 percent.

10. West Kalimantan recorded an additional 558 cases

West Kalimantan ranks tenth. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 558. The seven-day positive rate in this region is recorded at 19.88 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 21.96 per week.
