East Kalimantan Has the Highest Covid-19 Death Toll on Borneo Island

East Kalimantan has the highest number of Covid-19 deaths on the island of Borneo, reaching 2,984 as of Tuesday, July 28, 2021.

The next highest number of Covid-19 deaths is in South Kalimantan, with 1,237 deaths. There were 667 Covid-19 deaths in Central Kalimantan.

Furthermore, there were 561 Covid-19 deaths in West Kalimantan and 313 in North Kalimantan.

Compared weekly, the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths occurred in North Kalimantan, at 20.84%. East Kalimantan followed with a weekly increase of 17.8%.

The weekly increase in Covid-19 deaths in West Kalimantan was 14.7%. Meanwhile, the increase in Covid-19 deaths in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan was 7.4% and 12.5%, respectively.

Monthly, the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths was in West Kalimantan, at 129.9%. This was followed by East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan, with monthly increases of 65.2% and 59.7%, respectively.

The monthly increase in Covid-19 deaths in Central Kalimantan was 23.1%, and in South Kalimantan, it reached 16.5%. The average monthly increase across all provinces was 58.9%.

To reduce the death toll, the public is urged to work together to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This can be done by diligently following health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
