East Jakarta's air quality this afternoon is the worst in the Jabodetabek area, based on data from the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). East Jakarta's air quality index was recorded at 112 on Monday, January 1st, 2024, at 5:00 PM WIB.
Below East Jakarta, Tangerang is second with an air quality index of 108. Next, North Jakarta is third with a score of 106.
For information, KLHK categorizes air quality based on the following ISPU ranges:
* 0-50: Good
* 51-100: Moderate
* 101-200: Unhealthy
* 201-300: Very Unhealthy
* 300+: Hazardous
The air quality index or ISPU is monitored at 72 stations spread across 31 provinces. The air quality index calculation uses the results of measurements of air pollutant parameters, consisting of particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), and hydrocarbons (HC).
This indicates that cities in Jabodetabek such as South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Tangerang, and Bogor have moderate air quality, while East Jakarta, Tangerang, North Jakarta, Bekasi, and West Jakarta have unhealthy air quality.
KLHK advises that everyone in areas with unhealthy air quality should reduce prolonged outdoor physical activity. Meanwhile, in areas with moderate air quality, everyone can still be outdoors except for sensitive groups.
Everyone living in areas with very unhealthy and hazardous air quality should avoid all outdoor activities.
