The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 5.75 million cases by Thursday, November 10, 2022. Azerbaijan recorded the highest increase in Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 66.67 percent. GISAID recorded 20 new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 66.67 percent compared to the previous day.
Following Azerbaijan is Saudi Arabia, with weekly Omicron case growth reaching 61.64 percent. 257 new Omicron cases were reported in the country. Daily statistics show a 3.63 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, which recorded 248 cases.
Next, new Omicron cases in Myanmar increased by 35 percent to 54 cases compared to the previous week; in Uganda, they increased by 29.54 percent to 364 cases; and in Kuwait, they increased by 16.76 percent to 439 cases.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 26,232, a 0.02 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges everyone to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is urged to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
