The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has announced the squad for the national team's training camp (TC) in Turkey from December 20, 2023, to January 6, 2024.
Twenty-nine players have been selected by Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar early next year.
The squad is dominated by 11 players based abroad. These overseas players include Jordi Amat (Johor Darul Tazim FC), Elkan Baggott (Ipswich Town), Asnawi Mangkualam (Jeonnam Dragons), Justin Hubner (Wolverhampton), and others.
Domestic clubs have contributed only one or two of their best players.
Head of the National Team Agency (BTN), Sumardji, stated that several players called up for the Turkish TC previously participated in the 2024 World Cup qualifiers in Iraq and the Philippines.
"They will undergo several trial matches on January 2nd and 5th, 2024 against Libya in Antalya, and on January 9th against Iran in Qatar," said Sumardji in his official statement on Tuesday (December 19, 2023).
After the training camp, six players will be cut from the squad, leaving 23 players to compete in the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar.
