Anticipating the impact of the continuously rising Omicron variant, 170 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data from Tuesday, July 12, 2022, shows a national average of 192.8 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per week, are Mojokerto (990 people), Banyuwangi (970 people), Tanggamus (967 people), Kuningan (943 people), and Jombang (909 people).
Mojokerto ranks first, with 990 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 0.91 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Banyuwangi, where 970 people were tested per week in an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 0.93 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Following is Tanggamus, with a population of 615,500, recording 967 Covid-19 tests per week. Kuningan recorded 943 tests per week, and Jombang 909.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 192 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of tests per week than previously. Meanwhile, 172 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests per week compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some regions with the highest number of tests per week include Tanggamus, South Lampung, and Kupang City, with 967, 904, and 874 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
