The number of Covid-19 red zones in Indonesia has increased again. The Covid-19 Task Force reported that 195 cities/regencies in Indonesia were in the red zone or had a high risk of coronavirus as of July 25, 2021. This number increased from 180 cities/regencies the previous week.
Meanwhile, the number of areas in other zones decreased. 277 areas were categorized as orange zones or medium risk, a decrease of four areas from the previous week. Then, yellow zones or low-risk areas also decreased, from 51 to 41 cities/regencies.
Only one area was in the green zone, as it recorded no new Covid-19 cases. For the green zone, the category is differentiated into areas with no new cases and areas unaffected.
The Covid-19 risk zoning map is determined based on three indicators. First, epidemiological indicators including the percentage decrease in cases, incidence rate, and mortality rate.
Second, public health surveillance indicators related to the number of tests and the positivity rate. Third, health service indicators including the occupancy rate of hospital beds.
The public is urged to always comply with and implement health protocols when engaging in activities outside the home. Wearing masks, maintaining distance and avoiding crowds, and washing hands with soap are effective in preventing the transmission of the coronavirus.
