This week's Covid-19 statistics in Europe still depict a concerning situation compared to the previous week, due to the continued increase in the number of deaths. This week, 16 countries recorded an increase in deaths, while 10 others recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Moldova, Republic of, Estonia, Slovenia, Sweden, and the Czech Republic. The total deaths in these five countries as of Tuesday, October 4, 2022, amounted to 115, with a weekly growth exceeding 58.33 percent.
Moldova, Republic of, recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 250 percent. In this country, Worldometer recorded seven deaths, an increase compared to the previous week's reported two deaths.
Estonia follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in this country grew by 133.33 percent. Yesterday's daily death toll in this country was recorded at 14. Deaths in Slovenia increased by 128.57%, deaths in Sweden increased by 100%, and deaths in the Czech Republic increased by 58.33%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Russia, with 711 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 0.71% compared to the previous week. Following Russia, Germany reported 606 deaths (up 21.93%), Italy 270 deaths (down 10.89%), the United Kingdom 228 deaths (up 21.93%), and France 203 deaths (down 6.45%).
The total number of deaths in Europe over the last seven days was recorded at 2,842. This accounts for 36.79 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 7,724. The number of deaths in Europe increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 2,696 deaths.
