Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 150 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Friday, August 19, 2022, shows a national average of 0.69 tests per 1000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Tangerang, Badung, and West Jakarta, with respective figures of 8.06, 7.43, 5.3, 4.85, and 4.84 tests per 1000 people per week.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 8.06 tests per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 13.77 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 7.43 tests per 1000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 14.66 percent, also down from the previous week.
South Tangerang recorded 5.3 tests per 1000 people per week; Badung, with a population of 727,950, recorded 4.85 tests per 1000 people per week; and West Jakarta recorded 4.84 tests per 1000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 155 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than the previous week. Meanwhile, 189 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some regions with the highest number of tests include Badung (4.85 tests per 1000 people per week), Balikpapan (4.45), and Mimika (3.37).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
