Based on national Covid-19 data, 159 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Monday, August 8, 2022, shows a national average of 0.96 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are South Jakarta (10.48 people), Central Jakarta (9.94 people), South Tangerang (7.19 people), East Jakarta (6.64 people), and West Jakarta (6.23 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 10.48 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 15.44 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 9.94 people per 1,000 were tested per week. The positive rate is 15.96 percent, also down from the previous week.
Following this, South Tangerang recorded 7.19 tests per 1,000 people per week; East Jakarta, 6.64 tests per 1,000 people per week; and West Jakarta, 6.23 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 132 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 205 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (6.14 people), Badung (5.64 people), and Mimika (4.36 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
