The Indonesian Ministry of Health's (Kemenkes) screening revealed that 614 prospective specialists or participants in the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) exhibited symptoms of depression.
This number represents 22.4% of the total PPDS participants with depressive symptoms surveyed by Kemenkes in March 2024, according to a report received by *Databoks*, released on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
RSCM also recorded the highest number of prospective specialists with depressive symptoms nationwide, at 614 individuals.
By specialty, the most prevalent depressive symptoms among PPDS participants at RSCM were found in Internal Medicine (Sp1 Ilmu Penyakit Dalam), with 104 individuals.
This was followed by Pediatrics (Sp1 Ilmu Kesehatan Anak) with 90 individuals, and Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (Sp1 Anestesiologi dan Terapi Intensif) with 37 individuals.
Kemenkes conducted this screening at 28 vertical education hospitals (RSV), including RSCM, with a total sample of 12,121 PPDS participants.
Data collection took place on March 21, 22, and 24, 2024, using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9.
The following is a list of the top 10 medical specialist education departments at RSCM with the highest number of prospective specialists exhibiting depressive symptoms:
1. Sp1 Internal Medicine: 104 individuals
2. Sp1 Pediatrics: 90 individuals
3. Sp1 Anesthesiology and Intensive Care: 37 individuals
4. Sp1 Ophthalmology: 33 individuals
5. Sp1 Neurology: 32 individuals
6. Sp1 Dermatology and Venereology: 28 individuals
7. Sp1 Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation: 25 individuals
8. Sp1 Clinical Pathology: 25 individuals
9. Sp1 Radiology: 22 individuals
10. Sp1 Ear, Nose, Throat, Head and Neck Surgery (THT-KL): 22 individuals
