Based on national Covid-19 data, 145 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Thursday, November 3, 2022, shows a national average of 0.42 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, ranked from highest to lowest number of tests per 1,000 people per week, are: Central Jakarta (4.77 people), South Jakarta (4.77 people), Balikpapan (4.55 people), West Jakarta (3.42 people), and East Jakarta (3.18 people).
Central Jakarta ranks first. With a population of 913,720, the number of people tested was 4.77 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 18.5 percent, an increase from the previous week.
South Jakarta follows. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 4.77 people per 1,000 people per week were tested. The positive rate in this region is 16.37 percent, also an increase from the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in Balikpapan recorded 4.55 people per 1,000 people per week; West Jakarta, 3.42 people per 1,000 people per week; and East Jakarta, 3.18 people per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact, national Covid-19 data shows 132 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily number of tests than before. Meanwhile, 163 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.55 people), Badung (2.51 people), and Mimika (2.2 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
