Based on national Covid-19 data, 150 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Wednesday, November 2, 2022, shows a national average of 0.42 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, West Jakarta, and East Jakarta, with 4.66, 4.59, 4.54, 3.34, and 3.11 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 4.66 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 15.41 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 4.59 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 17.74 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Following is Balikpapan, with a population of 646,020, recording 4.54 tests per 1,000 people per week; West Jakarta with 3.34 tests per 1,000 people per week; and East Jakarta with 3.11 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact, national Covid-19 data shows 143 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Conversely, 164 regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan, Badung, and Mimika, with 4.54, 2.47, and 2.18 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
