Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 171 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data as of Tuesday, August 16, 2022, shows a national average of 178.36 tests per week.
The top five cities with the highest number of people tested per week are Manado (971 people), Kediri (920 people), Jombang (913 people), Cimahi (900 people), and Mimika (897 people).
Manado ranks first. With a population of 433,880, 971 people were tested per week. The latest positive rate is 5.87 percent, lower than the previous week.
Kediri follows. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 920 people were tested per week. The positive rate is 2.83 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Jombang recorded 913 tests per week, Cimahi (population 610,490) recorded 900 tests per week, and Mimika recorded 897 tests per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 144 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 233 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests in the last week compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some areas with the highest number of tests per week include Manado (971 people), Mimika (897 people), and Jambi (847 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
