To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, 167 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly suspect testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Saturday, November 19, 2022, shows the national average at 13.41 percent. This suspect testing data is calculated based on the number of suspected individuals and close contacts compared to the total number of people tested in each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest weekly suspect testing percentage, are Simalungun (92.2%), Boven Digoel (82%), Mandailing Natal (81.49%), Tidore Islands City (81.29%), and Pangandaran (76.5%).
Simalungun ranks first. With a population of 877,710, its weekly suspect testing percentage is recorded at 92.2 percent. The latest positive rate is 6.56 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Boven Digoel. The population of this region is 71,134. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly suspect testing percentage is 82 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 47.06 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Mandailing Natal recorded 81.49 percent, Tidore Islands City with a population of 101,620 recorded 81.29 percent weekly suspect testing percentage, and Pangandaran recorded 76.5 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 189 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher weekly suspect testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 162 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly suspect testing percentage compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly suspect testing percentage ratios include Simalungun, Boven Digoel, and Mandailing Natal, with weekly suspect testing percentages of 92.2 percent, 82 percent, and 81.49 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
