Anticipating the impact of the rising Omicron variant, 151 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations, exceeding the national average. Data from the week of August 7, 2022, shows a national average of 170.8 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Kediri City, Blora, Kubu Raya, Pangandaran, and Lombok Tengah, with 986, 978, 903, 896, and 873 specimens per week, respectively.
Kediri City ranks first. With a population of 292,930, it recorded 986 specimens per week. The latest positive rate is 5.21 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Blora. With a population of 866,140, it examined 978 specimens per week. Its positive rate is 0.1 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Kubu Raya recorded 903 specimens per week. Pangandaran, with a population of 407,350, examined 896 specimens per week, and Lombok Tengah, with a population of 995,460, examined 873 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on national Covid data, 175 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimen examinations than before. Meanwhile, 136 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of specimens examined include Kubu Raya (903 specimens), Lombok Tengah (873 specimens), and Sorong City (848 specimens).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
