Five provinces in Sumatra experienced an increase in Covid-19 cases in the last week, up to Tuesday, July 27, 2021. These five provinces are Aceh, North Sumatra, Bengkulu, Riau, and Bangka Belitung Islands.
Specifically, the additional weekly corona cases in Aceh increased by 56.7%, from 475 people to 1,097 people. The additional weekly corona cases in North Sumatra increased by 25.53%, from 6,293 people to 8,450 people.
In Bengkulu, the additional weekly corona cases increased by 2.85%, from 1,875 people to 1,930 people. The increase in new weekly corona cases in Riau was 12.38%, from 6,169 people to 7,041 people. Then, the increase in new weekly corona cases in Bangka Belitung reached 22.1%, from 2,402 people to 3,634 people.
Meanwhile, five other provinces in Sumatra experienced a decrease in new weekly corona cases. They are West Sumatra, Jambi, South Sumatra, Lampung, and Riau Islands.
The additional weekly corona cases in West Sumatra decreased by 6.44%, from 4,894 people to 4,598 people. The additional weekly corona cases in Jambi decreased by 28.91%, from 2,265 to 1,757 people.
Then, new weekly corona cases in South Sumatra decreased by 0.51%, from 4,710 people to 4,686 people. New weekly corona cases in Lampung decreased by 1.39%, from 3,283 to 3,238 people. Meanwhile, new weekly corona cases in Riau Islands decreased by 78.38%, from 5,776 to 3,238 people.
To suppress the spread of the corona virus, the public is urged to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is encouraged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
