Based on national Covid-19 data, 142 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from Monday, September 5, 2022, shows a national average of 0.58 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are Mimika, South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, and South Tangerang, with respective figures of 6.33, 6.33, 6.26, 4.43, and 4.31 tests per 1,000 people per week.
Mimika ranks first. With a population of 221,810, the number of people tested there was 6.33 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 3.99 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week.
Next is South Jakarta. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested was 6.33 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this region is 10.51 percent, which has also decreased compared to the previous week.
Then, Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720, recorded 6.26 Covid-19 tests per 1,000 people per week; West Jakarta recorded 4.43 tests per 1,000 people per week; and South Tangerang recorded 4.31 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, there are 99 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 216 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Mimika, Balikpapan, and Jayapura, with 6.33, 4.17, and 4.07 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
