Unwilling to be caught off guard and continuing efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19, currently 138 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Thursday, November 24, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 7.04 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to the weekly target of each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest percentage of people tested per week, are Purwakarta (149.74%), Semarang (133.27%), Ciamis (115.11%), Balikpapan City (85.5%), and Badung (58.32%).
Purwakarta ranks first. With a population of 960,820, the weekly testing percentage here is recorded at 149.74 percent. The latest positive rate is 6.82 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Semarang. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage is 133.27 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 3.11 percent, which has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, the weekly testing percentage is recorded at 115.11 percent for Ciamis, Balikpapan City recorded 85.5 percent, and Badung recorded 58.32 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 180 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 174 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Balikpapan City, Badung, and Sikka, with weekly testing percentages of 85.5 percent, 58.32 percent, and 51.55 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
