Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 144 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Wednesday, October 19, 2022, shows a national average of 136.94 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per week, are Gresik (986 people), Purwakarta (967 people), Jepara (916 people), Jombang (913 people), and Malang City (904 people).
Gresik ranks first, with 986 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 4.56 percent, lower than the previous week's percentage.
Next is Purwakarta, with a population of 960,820. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 967 people were tested per week. The positive rate is 1.34 percent, higher than the previous week's percentage.
Following this, 916 people were tested per week in Jepara, 913 in Jombang, and 904 in Malang City.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 174 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested daily in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 187 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested in the last week compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some areas with the highest number of people tested per week include Batam City, Pekanbaru City, and Samarinda City, with 892, 832, and 698 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
