List of Various Social Assistance Programs Expected by the Public During PPKM

Based on a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the majority of the population expects various forms of assistance to avoid having to leave their homes. This assistance is particularly needed while the community activity restriction policy (PPKM) is extended.

The most anticipated assistance is food aid (sembako), as stated by 50% of respondents. The need for food aid is most strongly felt by those who are primarily homemakers and unemployed.

Furthermore, medicine and healthcare services are the second priority. This is because 39.5% of respondents need such assistance to reduce mobility outside the home.

In addition to basic needs, the public also expects social assistance in the form of cash (35.9%) and internet access (31.7%). The need for internet access was most frequently expressed by those still engaged in school activities.

The BPS conducted a survey of 212,762 respondents, specifically internet users in 34 provinces, from July 13-20, 2021. The BPS survey used a non-probability sampling design, distributed through a chain referral method.
