A survey by Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) shows that Indonesians who have never been infected with the Covid-19 virus are more negligent in implementing health protocols. However, the difference in adherence to health protocols is small, ranging from 0.9% to 4.3%.
For example, 2.4% of those who have never been infected with corona and neglected to wear a single mask. This percentage differs by 0.9% from the percentage of those who neglected to wear a single mask despite having been infected with corona (1.5%).
20.4% of those who have never been infected with corona neglected to wear two masks. Among those who have been exposed to the virus, 16.1% still neglected to wear two masks.
Furthermore, 5.5% of those who have never been infected with corona rarely wash their hands with soap. This number is 4% among those who have been infected with corona.
6.7% of those who have never been infected with corona neglected to maintain social distancing. This percentage reaches 5% among those who have been infected with corona.
Meanwhile, 4% of those who have never been infected with corona rarely avoided crowds. Among those who have tested positive for corona, 2.8% still neglected to avoid crowds.
Implementing health protocols is crucial to prevent the spread of the corona virus. Therefore, the public is urged to diligently implement these protocols, which include wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and avoiding crowds, and washing hands with soap.
The BPS conducted a survey of 212,762 respondents from July 13-20, 2021. The method used was a non-probability snowball sampling design.
