Air pollution levels in Serpong, South Tangerang (Tangsel), were the worst throughout August 2023. This is based on the latest report from the Nafas air quality monitoring application, which shows that air pollution in Serpong last month was equivalent to smoking 117 cigarettes.
This calculation uses a measurement method based on the average daily pollution of particulate matter (PM) 2.5 of 22 micrograms per cubic meter, equivalent to one cigarette.
The pollution level in Serpong recorded an average PM2.5 concentration of 83 micrograms per cubic meter.
Below Serpong, Tarumajaya, Bekasi, had an average PM2.5 concentration of 81 micrograms per cubic meter, equivalent to smoking 114 cigarettes in a month.
Next, the area with the worst air pollution was found in Bedahan, Depok. The average PM2.5 concentration in this area was 77 micrograms per cubic meter, equivalent to smoking 108 cigarettes in a month.
In addition, several areas in Bogor were also included in the list of areas with the worst air pollution in Indonesia in August 2023. These include Parung Panjang and Gunung Sindur.

3. Bedahan (Depok): PM 2.5 concentration at 77 micrograms per cubic meter, equivalent to smoking 108 cigarettes.
4. Parung Panjang (Bogor): PM 2.5 concentration at 76 micrograms per cubic meter, equivalent to smoking 106 cigarettes.
5. Babakan (Tangsel): PM 2.5 concentration at 75 micrograms per cubic meter, equivalent to smoking 106 cigarettes.
6. Gunung Sindur (Bogor): PM 2.5 concentration at 74 micrograms per cubic meter, equivalent to smoking 103 cigarettes.
7. Panunggangan Utara (Tangerang): PM 2.5 concentration at 73 micrograms per cubic meter, equivalent to smoking 102 cigarettes.
8. Cibubur (East Jakarta): PM 2.5 concentration at 69 micrograms per cubic meter, equivalent to smoking 98 cigarettes.
9. Pamulang (Tangsel): PM 2.5 concentration at 68 micrograms per cubic meter, equivalent to smoking 97 cigarettes.
10. Cipayung (East Jakarta): PM 2.5 concentration at 68 micrograms per cubic meter, equivalent to smoking 96 cigarettes.
