Omicron Spread Fastest in North Macedonia Within a Week (Wednesday, November 2, 2022)

The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 4.77 million cases by Wednesday, November 2, 2022. North Macedonia ranks first, with a weekly increase in Omicron cases growing by 28.78 percent. GISAID recorded 179 new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 28.78 percent compared to the previous day.

Following North Macedonia is Palau, with a weekly growth in Omicron cases reaching 28.57 percent. Daily Omicron cases increased by 28.57 percent compared to the previous day, totaling 35 cases.

Furthermore, Omicron cases in Mongolia increased by 8.81 percent to 593 cases compared to the previous week; the Marshall Islands saw an increase of 25 Omicron cases (up 8.7 percent); and Mauritius saw an increase of 3,883 Omicron cases (up 5.26 percent).

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the addition of Omicron cases up to yesterday reached 25,299 cases, a 0.44 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges all parties to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is urged to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
