The Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force recorded 6,832,802 people reprimanded for non-compliance with the 3M health protocols (wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands) in crowded areas between June 21-27, 2021. Markets were the location with the highest number of reprimands, at 3,422,446 people.
The next most common locations were offices and public roads, with 948,081 and 613,095 reprimands respectively. A further 249,438 people were reprimanded for neglecting the 3M protocols in residential areas.
Additionally, 203,951 people received reprimands for violating protocols at tourist attractions. Reprimands were also issued at various other locations, including restaurants and cafes, places of worship, airports, public sports facilities, terminals, schools, malls, and train stations.
The 3M health protocols—wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap—are crucial to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
To curb the spread of the coronavirus, the government also implemented Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM Darurat) in Java and Bali from July 3-20, 2021. Under these restrictions, places of worship, malls, and tourist attractions were temporarily closed.
A 100% work-from-home (WFH) policy was implemented for non-essential sectors. Traditional and modern markets had their operating hours restricted to 8 PM, with a maximum 50% visitor capacity.
