With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 134 regencies/cities are currently aggressively conducting tests, exceeding the national average. Data as of Saturday, October 1, 2022, shows a national average of 136.31 specimens tested per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Gianyar, Purbalingga, Wonosobo, Tarakan City, and Kebumen, with weekly specimen numbers of 965, 951, 916, 912, and 885, respectively.
Gianyar is ranked first. With a population of 528,070, the number of specimens tested is 965 per week. The latest positive rate is 2.36 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week.
Next is Purbalingga. The population is 951,620. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 951 specimens are tested per week. The positive rate is 5.03 percent, also down from the previous week.
Specimen testing in Wonosobo recorded 916 per week; Tarakan City, with a population of 267,270, recorded 912 specimens per week; and Kebumen recorded 885 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 161 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimens tested than before. Meanwhile, 126 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens tested include Gianyar, Tarakan City, and Hulu Sungai Selatan, with 965, 912, and 827 specimens, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
