To suppress the spread of Covid-19 in regions, currently 154 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly suspect examination percentages above the national average. Data as of Thursday, December 8, 2022, shows the national average examination rate at 13.18 percent. This suspect examination data is calculated based on the number of suspected individuals and close contacts compared to the number of people examined in each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Simalungun, Tidore Islands City, Mandailing Natal, Boven Digoel, and Banggai Laut, with percentages of 93.64 percent, 91.21 percent, 87.28 percent, 77.78 percent, and 76.47 percent, respectively.
Simalungun is ranked first. With a population of 877,710, the weekly suspect examination percentage here is recorded at 93.64 percent. The latest positive rate is 9.17 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Tidore Islands City. The population in this region is recorded at 101,620. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly suspect examination percentage is 91.21 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 15.38 percent, which has also decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, Mandailing Natal, with a population of 460,360, recorded a weekly suspect examination percentage of 87.28 percent; Boven Digoel recorded 77.78 percent; and Banggai Laut recorded 76.47 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 179 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily weekly suspect examination percentage than before. Meanwhile, 170 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly suspect examination percentage compared to the previous week's examination.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly suspect examination percentages include Simalungun, Tidore Islands City, and Mandailing Natal, with weekly suspect examination percentages of 93.64 percent, 91.21 percent, and 87.28 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
